Surely the subject of your graduation project needs to be your choice, maybe in discussion with your tutors. How will anyone else here know what type of architecture interests you?!

hihi, what we are asking for are more new ideas that we can discuss about because we might not be experienced or resourceful enough as compared to many out there. So by sharing new ideas it could have evoke a form of interest that we dun used to have. since i already completed on my junior years relating to nature which i am and only interested in. now i would like to source for new interests to work on.

Like say i like sailing and i researched and found that i can include the functions like sail renting in the project but however with more experienced and willing-to-share people in this forum, they would input like there is perhaps sail spa for sailors then we can continue to discuss? (i dont like sailing, its just an example)

If lets say everything,as student, will to discuss with tutor, then i guess it defeats the purpose of this discussion forum segment -architecture students forum-?=)

this post serve no offense ar, just my two cents worth.

In the UK (at least at my Uni) we tend to choose the site first. Then artistic and pragmatic analysis of it and its surrounding context helps to derive programme. I will give you an example.

My site was on a fast road = speed, and in an area where 2nd,3rd and 4th marriages are all too common. Rather than create a programme that failed to accept this emerging trend, i harnessed what essentially was becoming the norm. Hence speed marriages = vegas = venturi = decorated shed. The only stipulation was that the building had to have a 'hybrid' function, so going with the themes of vegas/speed i made it an 'american car showroom'. ('69 Dorados etc). This was then made mutually inclusive by the addition of a 'car lift' whereby paying customers could choose the car, sit in it and 'go up the lift' (instead of the aisle) and meet their guests in a chapel into which the lift entered. The ceremony complete, they would go back down the lift, and off into the sunset....

So, my thoughts are choose an interesting site first. Analyise, then derive from it a programme. The building then has some tangible rhetoric and evidence behind it. It can then sit nice contextually and analysis may even help to derive form and structure.

hello there.....here just to add my suggestions for u ..
see if u find them helpful..!!

the process of selecting a topic should..be like..

first u should see what exactly u want to intend to do...like...do u want to experiment wid d forms...or u wish to experiment wid the site planning...housing..building construction material and techniques..or do u wish to set a new typology which u think it not present ..or do u wish to work on designing something deviated frm d existing established typology....!

it can also be like u wish to work on urban level wid some insertion to be planned out..which would benefit d urban precinct...there can also be a social concern through u r architecture..like designing entrepreneurship training centres for women etc..etc etc...there r many...choices for u...go wid ur strong points...what i suggest is that finalise ur intends first nd then search wid to relevant topics which fit ur bill.....!!

best of luck...!! Wink
