I sure wish that updating PowerCADD didn't clear the Open Recent Menu items. I wouldn't think that data would be impossible to preserve. I'd appreciate the thoughtfulness.

If you back up your powercadd preferences prior to updating (in user>library>preferences, both PowerCadd (folder) and com.engsw.PowerCADD8.plist), update, then put these backups back into the Preference folder, your list of 'recent' files will remain intact.

I do this for the exact opposite reason -- I like to clear out the garbage and just have a couple of commonly used files in the list. So, I update PC, open and close the files that I want in the list, then quit PC, backup the preference files, then relaunch PC. Every week or so, I replace the preference files with the backups, restoring the 'recent' list to just the couple of files that I like to have quick access to.

I am not sure which of these two preference files contains the "recent" list, but it is a good idea to have backups, so periodically backup both of them.

regards,
patrick

I find the accumulation in the Open Recent menu to be a bit of a nuisance for me.

On my wish list- a way in which you could limit the amount of "Open Recents" in the menu to a fixed number.

I was thinking you could set the number, but now I don't see it. Maybe I'm thinking of another application.

I want more recents and I wish reinstating the preferences with Derek's utility didn't affect them, but that's just a little thing.

Some have posted about dock utilities and such that help organize important files. Perhaps I need that to put my projects in order.

I just updated to Snow Leopard this afternoon and open recent in PowerCadd was preserved in PowerCadd 6.2.1. See my comments about PowerCadd 6 working in Snow Leopard. Being retired and not doing any serious CAD anymore I just play around now.
