Has anyone noticed several threads in the forums where the original question poster has disappeared, making the thread nonsensical?
Is this because individuals have removed their account? Or have they been deleted for misdemeanors? Or is it another fault with the fora? |

It's just the spam patrol in operation. There have been quite a few "trolls" who are posting pointless messages just as a way of placing their own web link - or as testing for automated spam posting systems.
Sometimes the moderators can see this going on when it is less than obvious from browsing, as we're watching the patterns, searching by author for systematic inconsistencies, when necessary cross-checking posting IP numbers, and so on.
There has been a lot of small spam in these forums recently so we've been trying to respond in part by keeping things a little tighter.
If you can point to anything specific, we can try to explain more specifically - though I know it is hard to point to messages which aren't there anymore. |
