PC7 "align group" command

In PC 6 when aligning a grouped object, the align to grid worked great. The bounding box edges could be aligned to grid or other oblects. in pC7 when I try to aligh a group, say "align left edge, to grid" nothing happens. What's going on?
7.03 (build FH17) system, 10.3.9
